1 dead, 5 injured in shooting at Indianapolis bar

Indiana authorities said Sunday that a shooting at an Indianapolis bar left at least one person dead and five others injured, with police recovering a gun from the parking lot. ABC7 the report said.

Authorities said an off-duty uniformed police officer was also among the injured.

Indianapolis Police Department officials told the media that two uniformed but off-duty officers were at a bar when a disturbance broke out in the parking lot around 1:30 a.m.

Officials said police exchanged gunfire with a suspect and one of the officers was shot and was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be unharmed.

His condition is reportedly stable and he will be discharged soon.

Police also said the other four injured were in good condition and were likely to recover.

Shortly after the shooting in Indiana, a man with a gunshot wound went to a local hospital for treatment but died. Police say the deceased is believed to be connected to recent gun violence.

Separately, a shooting on Chicago’s South Side injured at least five people, including a newborn baby.

According to Chicago authorities, a vehicle carrying four adults was shot in the 7900 block of South Wood Street around 12:14 p.m.

Police have launched an investigation and no arrests have been made yet.
