82 Palestinians killed in Gaza in past 24 hours, death toll climbs to 30,960

Israel’s continued attack on the besieged Gaza Strip has left at least 82 Palestinians dead and 122 others injured in the past 24 hours, the Gaza Strip’s health ministry said on Saturday.

The Israeli occupying forces said in a statement, “In the past 24 hours, the Israeli occupiers carried out 10 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 82 martyrs and 122 injured.”

“Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the road, with rescuers unable to reach them,” the statement said.

“72 per cent of the victims of Israel’s aggression in Gaza are children and women,” it added.

Israel has continued its attacks on the Gaza Strip in defiance of an interim ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), killing at least 30,960 Palestinians, mostly women and children, 72,524 since October 7, according to the Palestinian Health Authority Injuried.

Israel has been attacking the Gaza Strip since Hamas launched cross-border attacks that Tel Aviv said killed nearly 1,200 people.

According to the United Nations, Israel’s war on Gaza has resulted in the displacement of 85% of the area’s population amid severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

The International Court of Justice has accused Israel of genocide. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to cease genocide and take steps to guarantee humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.

However, hostilities continue unabated and the delivery of aid remains far from adequate to cope with the humanitarian disaster.
