The billionaire held a press conference at the Sydney Opera House on Wednesday to announce his vision to complete the ship, promising to build “a love boat and the ultimate in style and luxury,” The Guardian reported. “We are getting the world’s best naval architects, designers and engineers back on the decks to build Titanic II,” Palmer said.

The vessel will be built by Palmer’s Blue Star Line.

Once completed, the ship will follow the original voyage of the first Titanic. Palmer said the ship will depart from Southampton, England, bound for New York, and will also travel around the world.

The interior of the proposed ship will consist of nine decks, with 835 passenger cabins, including 383 first class, 201 second class and 251 third class. It will serve up to 2,435 passengers. It will also feature exact replicas of the bridges found on the original ship.

In addition to the onboard experience, the ship will also feature upgraded navigation technology and modern safety procedures. It would be powered by a diesel engine but would still have four smokestacks, like the original coal-powered Titanic.

According to The Guardian, construction of Titanic 2 was halted in 2015 due to a payment dispute. In 2018, Palmer announced that the project was scheduled to begin in 2022.
