Kim Keeling, 52, was charged with kidnapping and interfering with the custody of a child, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said.

Neighbors told police the incident happened around 11:20 a.m. Friday when Keeling grabbed the neighbor’s two-year-old child, locked himself and the child in his apartment and refused to return the child.

Keeling was later arrested on kidnapping charges.she was imprisoned in Okaloosa County Jail There is no bond.

The child was not injured in the incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Keeling told deputies she took the child away from her mother because she was trying to protect him from falling down the stairs outside.
