Imprisoned former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has visiting rights revoked after reports of possible attack

Pakistani authorities on Tuesday banned entry of imprisoned tourists former prime minister imran khan Government officials and his party said they received information about a possible attack on the prison where he was being held.

According to a government order, no visitors will be allowed to meet Khan or other inmates at the Adiala jail in the garrison city of Rawalpindi for two weeks for security reasons. The order comes days after authorities tightened prison security.

It was unclear whether the intelligence obtained by authorities was about Khan or other prisoners in separate barracks, including militants who are on trial.

Khan is currently serving multiple sentences in Adiala jail. He was convicted on three separate charges of corruption, leaking state secrets and violating marriage laws and was sentenced to 10, 14 and 7 years in prison respectively.

under pakistani law, he is serving concurrent sentences, meaning he is actually serving the longest sentence. Khan is appealing all convictions.

Gohar Khan, chairman of Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, condemned the ban on Khan’s visitors.

Khan’s party failed to secure a majority in the February 8 parliamentary election, which saw his rival become the largest representative in the National Assembly, or parliament’s lower house. Khan’s rival Shehbaz Sharif Now the country’s prime minister.
