Khawaja Asif: PIA privatization will be top priority for government

Aviation Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif expressed determination to develop the country’s aviation industry and increase its contribution to national economic growth.

He chaired a meeting in Islamabad today to discuss the National Aviation Policy 2023, challenges facing Pakistan’s aviation industry and air services agreements with other countries.

The minister said privatization of PIA will be the government’s top priority.

During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the work of different entities under the ministry including Pakistan International Airport, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, Pakistan Airports Authority, Aviation Safety Investigation Bureau, Airport Security Force and Pakistan Meteorological Department.

He was informed that in the first phase, three major airports including Islamabad International Airport, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi and Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore will be outsourced.
