In Perth, the sun will set at 6.40pm (AWST) on Sunday, March 10, and the moon Sha’aban will set at 6.46pm that night, which is not enough time to see the new moon of Ramadan.

In Sydney on Monday 11 March, the sun will set at 7:18pm (AEDT) and the moon will appear for 36 minutes after sunset until 7:54pm, when it disappears from the horizon. In Perth, the sun will set at 6:38pm (AWST) on Monday and the moon will appear for 41 minutes after sunset until 7:19pm, when it disappears from the horizon. This will allow enough time to view the new moon of Ramadhan 1445.

Therefore, this year 1445H-2024 Ramadan will begin on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The first night of Ramadan and Taraweeh prayers will be after sunset (after fasting) on ​​Monday, March 11th.

The Grand Mufti of Australia and the Australian Fatwa Committee’s method of determining the start of Ramadan is based on the birth time of the moon before sunset, the duration of moonset after sunset and the likelihood of seeing the moon, the post said. moon.
