Texas woman allegedly admits to shooting her grandmother in Dallas

A Texas resident has been arrested after she allegedly told police she shot her elderly grandmother.

Kelsie Miles, 30, was charged one count of murder Sunday, according to the Dallas Police Department. She is accused of killing her 80-year-old grandmother, Betty Lou Hearn, in her East Oak Cliff home.

The Grand Prairie Police Department told Fox News Digital that Myers contacted them about the shooting around 5:10 a.m. Sunday.

“Miles did drive to the Grand Prairie Police Department, where she met with officers outside in the parking lot and told them about the Dallas shooting,” a spokesperson for the police department explained.

“Officers took her into custody and contacted the Dallas Police Department, who responded to our detention center where she was detained.”

The Dallas Police Department said in a news release that first responders responded to the scene of the shooting to assist the victims.

“Police responded to the address and after receiving no response from anyone inside the home, they had reason to believe someone may be in need of immediate medical assistance and forced entry to the home,” the statement read.

“Once inside, officers found 80-year-old Betty Hearn lying on the floor and shot her. Dallas Fire Rescue arrived and Hearn died at the scene.”

After his arrest, Myers was transported to the Dallas County Jail. She is being held there on $750,000 bail.
