The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. as the balloon attempted to land in a field in Rochester, the Rochester Police Department said in a statement.

Rochester Fire Chief Chad Kuhlman said the passengers were lucky to survive.

“Everyone is miraculously okay,” Kuhlman told KIMT News 3.

“They were hanging on the wires. There were some sparks hanging from the wires in the basket. Eventually, the wires and the basket broke and they let a drop of water from the wires fall to the ground,” he said.
