The UAE has announced a week-long holiday for the public sector to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 2024. The resolution, passed by the UAE Cabinet, allows federal government staff to take leave from Monday to Sunday from April 8 to 14, with work to resume on April 15.

This is a report released by the UAE Media Office on the evening of April 14. Such a move allows government employees to enjoy nine days of leave, which also includes weekends close to the weekend.

The official start date of Eid al-Fitr will be determined by the United Arab Emirates Moon Viewing Committee, the statement said. The plot of the Eid holiday in the private sector remains unknown. However, federal employees also receive the same number of vacation days each year as private sector workers.

Public holiday dates in the UAE include:

– Eid al-Fitr: April 8-12

– Arafat Day: June 15

– Eid al-Adha: June 16-18

– Islamic New Year: July 7

– Birthday of Prophet Muhammad: September 15

– Memorial day: December 1

– National Day: December 2nd to 3rd

Eid al-Fitr marks the culmination of a month-long Muslim fast and is celebrated with morning prayers, family gatherings, gift-giving and charity events. Many people use the long holidays to travel abroad or take short regional trips, while others use the opportunity to buy new outfits for the festive season.
