The United States urges Afghanistan to take stricter measures to combat terrorism within its borders.
U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stressed the importance of Afghanistan living up to its commitments to prevent the use of its territory for terrorist activities.
“We are determined that Afghanistan will ensure that its territory is no longer used for terrorism,” Miller said. He further emphasized that the Taliban needs to abide by its anti-terrorism commitments to the international community.
“There is no doubt that Afghanistan has a responsibility to prevent terrorist groups from establishing safe havens,” Miller stressed.
He underlined the importance of Afghanistan’s stance against groups such as Al Qaeda and the Islamic State, stressing the urgent need to deny them sanctuary within Afghanistan.
A State Department spokesperson chose not to respond to inquiries about Atchison College’s president during a news conference.
